Rhodes, T. L. (2008). VALUE: Valid assessment of learning in undergraduate education. New Directions for Institutional Research, 2008, 59–70. https://doi.org/10.1002/ir.262

Abstract: Assessing student work created in curricular and co-curricular assignments (eliciting motivation, beginning through advancement) and lessening costs. Initial meta-rubrics created by synthesizing rubrics, advice, and feedback from faculty via National Advisory Committee frames validity. ePortfolio application for "course, program, and institutional levels of assessment;” however, "the shared criteria are too broad to be useful for assessing specific student work at a course level” (p. 64). Suggests using rubric data results to help determine whether education values are demonstrated across institutions.
